Thursday: A brief respite from unsettled weather

/ May 15, 2024 at 7:31 PM

Thursday brings us a brief respite from the periods of storms that have punctuated the past few days as high pressure builds in. Temperatures start in the mid-60s, warming to the mid-80s in the afternoon. Dewpoints will run a couple degrees cooler than they did on Wednesday, so it won’t feel quite as humid.

Friday & the weekend: Back to storms

Enjoy Thursday’s break, because storms return to the forecast for the weekend. Friday should get in mostly rain-free during the day, though cloud cover will be increasing leading into shower and storm chances arriving Friday evening. Temperatures Friday start in the upper 60s to around 70°, warming to the mid-to-upper 80s in the afternoon.

Of the weekend days, Saturday looks to be the stormier of the two based on the global model consensus (though the NAM is, oddly, very dry). While it won’t rain all day at any one location, thunderstorms with heavy rain will be possible at times, so you’ll want to be ready to turn outdoor plans into indoor ones. Sunday could still feature scattered showers and thunderstorms erupting in the afternoon, so be ready for changing conditions once again. Temperatures generally run in the mid-80s each day after starting in the upper 60s to low 70s.
