The week ahead: Temperatures around normal, late week rain chances
The first work week of 2021 will generally arrive with little weather fanfare, with temperatures at or slightly above early January normals for much of the week. Rain chances tick up Thursday into Friday as a storm system moves through, but quiet weather returns for the weekend.
Monday-Wednesday: High pressure in control
High pressure will keep conditions generally tranquil for Monday through Wednesday, with just some passing clouds at times. Expect highs in the upper 50s to low 60s each day. Low 40s will start us out on Monday and Tuesday; we’ll start a little cooler on Wednesday with some upper 30s.
Next rain chance: Thursday into Friday
We’ll warm up into the mid-60s in spots on Thursday as warm air ahead of our next storm system gets pulled into the area. Shower chances look to start to tick up in the afternoon and evening hours, but the brunt of any rainfall with the next system should arrive on Friday as a cold front moves through the area, knocking temperatures back to the upper 50s — generally normal for this time of year.
Quiet weekend ahead
Initial indications are that we’re going to have a quiet and pleasant weekend between storm systems, with the potential for the next round of inclement weather coming starting Monday. Models are, as you would probably gather this far out, in disagreement over when rainfall begins again, but it does appear that we get this weekend in unscathed (provided nothing speeds up!).
