Friday & the weekend: Saturday storms lead to a really nice Sunday
A cold front will move through this weekend, knocking temperatures down a peg but also bringing showers and a few thunderstorms into the area on Saturday.
First, though, we have one more quiet day of weather on Friday. A few more clouds will be possible after a string of rather clear days, but we’ll still see a predominantly sunny sky. Onshore flow will moderate high temperatures a bit compared to previous days, with highs running a few degrees cooler (but still in the low 80s).
Two rounds of showers are possible on Saturday. The first round could arrive in the morning hours associated with a trough lifting north across the area. The second round would arrive in the afternoon, associated with the cold front itself. Depending on the shower activity in the morning, a few thunderstorms could come along with the front, and a couple of these could be on the strong to severe side with damaging wind gusts the main issue. Showers and storms will clear the area by evening, and we’ll start to cool off with a cooler and drier airmass building in thereafter.
Sunday looks great. Expect plenty of sunshine throughout the day, with a cool start in the mid-50s followed up by highs approaching 80° with comfortable humidity. It’ll certainly be the pick day of the weekend after Saturday’s scattered showers and storms — take advantage!
