The week ahead: Warm start to the week before a cooldown
We get off to a warm start this week as temperatures return to the 70s for a few days (albeit with showers, especially Tuesday into Wednesday), followed by another cooldown that sends temperatures back below normal for the second half of the week, though not to the extent we saw last week.
High pressure will continue to lose its influence across the area throughout the day Monday, yielding more in the way of cloud cover and perhaps a few showers later in the evening. It’ll be a warmer day, though, with lows in the mid-40s heading into the low 70s in the afternoon as south and southwesterly winds bring in progressively warmer and more humid air throughout the day.
Shower chances continue to tick up heading into Tuesday as the front draws closer. Some disturbances aloft will interact with the relatively warm and humid airmass to squeeze out scattered showers throughout the day Tuesday. It’ll turn even warmer, with lows in the mid-50s to start the day. Highs will peak in the mid-70s in the afternoon, which will be the warmest we get this week.
Shower chances increase overnight Tuesday into Wednesday as the front pushes through. Wednesday gets off to a mild and rainy start with temperatures peaking in the upper 60s early. Once the front is through in the afternoon, though, we will start to see temperatures fall like a rock as showers depart. Temperatures fall into the 40s by evening, and will continue to fall overnight. We wake up much cooler on Thursday, with lows in the mid-30s expected. Temperatures only head to the low 50s in the afternoon, too, despite plenty of sunshine. This stretch of sweater weather continues Friday and Saturday, with quiet weather expected. A coastal trough will develop over the weekend, and a few showers could sneak ashore on Sunday as a result as temperatures start to moderate a bit back into the low 60s.
