Friday & the weekend: Seasonable temperatures with a mix of sun and clouds

After a chilly start Friday, we start to see temperatures warm up more toward mid-December normals heading into the weekend.
Temperatures will head near freezing in some spots Friday morning. Factor in a little wind and it’ll feel like the upper 20s, so be sure to employ a layer or two as you head out. You should be able to shed one of those layers by afternoon as temperatures peak around 60°, just a little on the cool side of normal for December 13. We’ll see some cloud cover at times, especially as we get into the afternoon and evening, but we stay rain-free.
Saturday will feature a little more in the way of sunshine and a bit warmer temperatures, too. We’ll start the day in the low 40s, warming to the mid-60s in the afternoon, this time a click or two on the warm side of normal. It’ll be a breezy day across the metro, too, with northeast winds running around 15-20 MPH. These elevated northeast winds combined with the full moon will drive water levels in the harbor into minor flood stage around Saturday morning’s high tide (6:41am), so if you’ve got early travels downtown, keep an eye on that.
Sunday will be an even milder day. We start the day well into the mid-40s, warming back into the mid-60s in the afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. Models have been trending drier for Sunday, too, so it’s less likely that we’ll see some showers, though a stray shower may still be a possibility near the coast where a coastal trough will be hanging out. We’ll see another round of minor flooding with Sunday morning’s high tide, too, which peaks around 7:32am, so be ready for a road closure or two downtown through about 9am. All in all, not a bad weekend ahead — just two more shopping weekends before Christmas, after all!
