Friday & the weekend: Turning cooler for Friday, but warm and unsettled weather returns this weekend

A cold front that brought showers and a few thunderstorms to the Lowcountry — including a tornado warning for Hilton Head Island — is through the area, and we’ll start Friday on a much cooler note as a result. Expect lows in the low 40s Friday morning, warming only to the upper 50s in the afternoon despite much more sunshine.
This won’t last too long, though, as a warm front lifts back across the area on Saturday. This will drive Saturday’s highs back into the low 70s as warm and humid air moves back in from the south. Some shower activity is possible from time to time on Saturday, too, but it won’t be an all-day rain in any one spot.
Much more widespread rain moves back into the area for Sunday as another line of showers and thunderstorms develops and pushes eastward across the area throughout the day ahead of another cold front. We’ll get one more warm and humid day with lows around 60° warming to the low 70s ahead of the rain. As is often the case, dynamically speaking things are looking good with 40-50 knots of shear modeled ahead of the line and breezy conditions overall, with gusts 30-40 MPH not out of the question even outside of thunderstorms as a strong low-level jet moves across the area. Thankfully, instability looks like it will once again be lacking, which would put the governor on a more substantial severe weather threat.
Once this front is through, we cool off for a good bit of next week, with temperatures falling slightly below normal. After a couple quiet days to start the work week, shower chances look to return for next Wednesday and Thursday as the pattern remains active.
