Rest of the work week: Rainy, then chilly, then calming down

/ February 3, 2026 at 10:14 PM

With a high of 63°, Tuesday ended up being the warmest day since January 23rd, when the high was 68°. We’ll fall back off that peak a little bit for the rest of the work week, but 60s should return for next week. In the meantime, we’ve got another cold front to deal with on Wednesday, which will spread some showers into the area on and off, especially as we get into the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures start in the low-to-mid-40s, and peak generally in the upper 50s to near 60° as showers overspread the area.

A few showers may be hanging around on Thursday morning as the front clears the area, but the balance of the day will be rain-free with clouds slowly breaking up. Much cooler air will be filtering into the area by Thursday morning, as evidenced by lows falling into the mid-30s. (Despite the cooler air, precipitation type issues are not expected.) Temperatures will only peak in the mid-40s with northerly winds making it feel more like the 30s pretty much all day. Winds mostly calm down by Friday morning, and with skies clearing up, radiational cooling will help temperatures fall to the upper 20s to start the day. We’ll warm to the mid-50s with plenty of sunshine, though.

Weekend outlook: Quiet and seasonable

While below-normal temperatures continue this weekend, it won’t be quite as below-normal as we’ve seen, nor will be there any concerns for winter weather, much less any atmospheric inclemency for the first time in a few weekends. Highs each day peak in the mid-to-upper 50s, while Saturday starts a little warmer than Sunday does courtesy of a dry front that moves by overnight Saturday. By the start of the new work week, we are starting to sniff out 60s highs once again as quiet weather continues.
