Friday & the weekend: Sunshine returns, but chill remains

Sunshine returns as we head into the first full weekend of February, but we’ve got a few more days of below-normal temperatures before some relief arrives next week.
Any sort of sunshine will feel pretty good after a fairly miserable Thursday in which the high of 51° was reached before sunrise and temperatures fell into the 30s as the day went on, all while being socked in with overcast and drizzle. Friday will deliver on the sunshine part as clouds clear out overnight, yielding a chilly morning in the upper 20s before warming to the mid-50s in the afternoon.
Sunshine continues this weekend, but a dry cold front that comes through Saturday will keep temperatures from warming up much. We’ll start Saturday in the mid-30s, but the frontal passage keeps highs capped in the low 50s with a decent breeze as well. Sunday starts out quite frigid as lows dip into the low 20s, perhaps requiring some faucet-dripping overnight, before warming to just the mid-to-upper 40s in the afternoon despite even more sunshine.
Sunday’s chill will be the final boss for this cold snap, though, as temperatures Monday head back to the low 60s, with 70s expected by Wednesday. Hang on — just a few more days!
