Thursday: Cold front approaches, rain chances increase late
A cold front will approach the area Thursday, packing a (thankfully weaker) line of showers and thunderstorms that will continue to lose oomph as it trudges ever eastward. We should get a majority of the day in rain-free, with only slight shower and storm chances as we get later into the afternoon. Temperatures will rise into the low 80s despite the increased cloud cover. The better rain chances are pegged for later in the evening and into Friday morning, which you’ll want to keep in mind for dinner plans and beyond. Severe thunderstorms are highly unlikely in the Charleston metro area, with a low risk of severe weather around and west of I-95.
Easter weekend forecast
Easter weekend will remain on the unsettled side as mid-level energy ripples through the area, kicking off periods of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Friday’s rain looks to be primarily confined to the morning hours as the aforementioned cold front — which won’t make temperatures too much cooler, honestly — moves slowly through the area and off the coast. This will make for a rain-free evening ahead of Saturday, when a disturbance swings through that should instigate some showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures on Saturday rebound to around 80° before thunderstorms initiate. Another round of isolated to scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm will be possible Easter Sunday as another cold front backdoors into the area from the north and another disturbance ripples across the area. Sunday will mark the beginning of a cooling trend that will send temperatures back below normal — but not too far below normal — heading into the new work week.
