Well, the 80s are over (for at least a while, anyway). A cold front that came through Sunday morning ensured that our high of 68° would be set…at 1am. It was a somewhat chilly afternoon, and we have more of the same in store for the week ahead as well-below normal temperatures become the rule heading into the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Early-week storm system brings rain chances

Monday will be another chilly day across the area. We’ll start the day around 40° (warmer near the coast). With clouds on the increase during the afternoon, temperatures will struggle to about 60°. Certainly legitimate sweater weather, and there’s going to be a lot more where that comes from.

On Tuesday, we should turn a little warmer as a coastal warm front straddles the coast. We could see a decent temperature gradient depending on how fair said front migrates inland, with chilly temperatures within a wedge of high pressure possibly hanging on. For now, expect highs around 70° — as warm as we will get all week — with a chance of showers as low pressure straddles the Gulf and moisture flows into the area.

Showers taper off Wednesday as low pressure moves northeast and drags a cold front through the area. Temperatures on Wednesday will be below normal, but highs in the mid-60s will feel pretty mild when you look at Thursday and beyond.

Unseasonably cool Thursday into the weekend

Cold high pressure will build back in and make its presence very felt beginning Thursday. Expect lows around 40° and highs only getting to 55° — a below-normal temperature for January, much less November. These temperatures continue into the weekend as high pressure remains in control. A few coastal showers are possible with a little bit of surface troughing possible, but otherwise, we remain rain-free. Cool weather fans, enjoy the prolonged period of sweater weather!
