Rest of the work week: Staying warm, but showers return
Seasonable warmth continues for the rest of the work week, though showers look to make their return Thursday evening and will hang around on Friday.
Wednesday will be another gorgeous day across the Lowcountry, with unfettered sunshine and comfortable temperatures. We start the day in the mid-40s but warm nicely to the upper 70s in the afternoon. Dewpoints around 40° during peak heating will make for a dry feel to the air, with relative humidity values bottoming out around 25% — very much a San Diego weather day here in the Lowcountry.
We start to see some changes on Thursday as low pressure in the Gulf lifts northward. We’ll run a few degrees warmer Thursday — highs generally around 80° — with increasing dewpoints throughout the day as high pressure moves offshore and warm, moist air is transported into the area from the south. This, in turn, will bring shower chances up beginning in the afternoon, but rain will become more likely as we head into the evening hours. Off and on showers — and perhaps a few thunderstorms given ample instability and some shear — will continue overnight and into Friday. Highs top out in the upper 70s on Friday after a much warmer start in the low-to-mid-60s. We stay warm heading into the weekend, which we look to get in mostly rain-free (though with a slight chance of showers Sunday evening) — good news for High Water Fest as things stand right now.
