Thursday’s forecast: Off and on storms continuing

/ August 16, 2023 at 9:45 PM

On and off showers and thunderstorms will continue for Thursday as a front remains stalled to our west and deep moisture resides over the area. We start the day in the mid-70s before highs top out around 90° before showers and thunderstorms fire. Once again, storms could pack heavy downpours that could lead to some flooding in a few spots, so be alert to quickly-changing conditions.

Friday & the weekend: Quieter Friday, but periods of unsettled weather return for the weekend

The weather calms down for Friday as some drier air moves in, yielding a mostly sunny and warm day with highs topping out in the low-to-mid-90s. The drier air, thankfully, will keep heat indices from getting too far out of hand, and we should see those stay below 100°. The quiet weather doesn’t last terribly long, though, as low pressure moves back into the area beginning later Saturday and lasting into Sunday. This will bring showers and thunderstorms back into the picture from time to time, though no day will be a complete washout, either. Temperatures will continue to run generally in the mid-70s to start and the low 90s each afternoon, tempered somewhat by showers and storms. Not the ideal situation for the last weekend before many of us go back to school, but so it goes in August.
