Tuesday: Turning much cooler
A cold front will swing through overnight, yielding a much chillier start on Tuesday as temperatures dip down to around freezing away from the coast and downtown. Breezy northwest-to-north winds will make it feel even colder, too, with morning wind chills dipping to the mid-20s across the area. Cold advection will continue throughout the day, and despite full sunshine, northerly winds will likely keep temperatures from heading above 50° in most locations.
Rest of the work week: Still chilly, but a warming trend begins Thursday
Generally quiet weather continues for the rest of the work week, with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies through Friday. The chill continues on Wednesday, as we’ll start the day below freezing once again with wind chills again dipping into the mid-20s. Highs will run a few degrees warmer than they did on Wednesday, but 52° is still well below normal for this point in the year. A brief freeze will be possible again Thursday morning, but we will start to see a warming trend begin in earnest as highs head to the upper 50s to around 60. Friday starts “warmer” than the previous two days, but mid-30s are still chilly! We will warm to the low 60s for the first time in a few days, though, in the afternoon as the airmass continues to modify with high pressure in control.
Looking ahead into the weekend, we should get Saturday in rain-free, with a slight shower chance on Christmas Eve. Early returns on guidance, though, indicate rain in the area for Christmas Day. (Not a repeat of Sunday, though!) Stay tuned to forecast updates throughout the week.
