Tuesday: More sun, more warmth

/ March 10, 2025 at 8:13 PM

Much more sunshine is in store for Tuesday as low pressure pulls away from the area at the surface and aloft. This will help warm things up, too — after a mid-40s start, downslope winds out of the northwest and the aforementioned sunshine will push highs to the low 70s in the afternoon, a couple degrees above normal for March 11. Overall, a much nicer day than Monday (weather-wise, anyway).

Rest of the work week: Quiet and warm

Quiet weather continues for the rest of the work week, too. We’ll turn even warmer on Wednesday as surface high pressure in the Gulf slips eastward, sending winds back around from the south. Temperatures start in the mid-to-upper 40s once again, warming to the mid-70s in the afternoon with one more day of mostly sunny skies expected. Some more cloud cover gets involved in the weather picture on Thursday as a little energy aloft moves by, but we should stay rain-free. We start the day in the low 50s, but the cloud cover will keep temperatures tamped down to the low to mid-70s. We warm back up for Friday as the upper energy departs. This thins out the cloud cover and tends to favor generally partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Temperatures head back solidly to the mid-70s in the afternoon after another low-50s start. All in all, we could do a lot worse in March, that’s for sure.

Heading into the weekend, expect one more quiet and warm day on Saturday as lows in the upper 50s warm to the upper 70s in the afternoon despite increasing cloud cover ahead of the next storm system. Sunday will once again be unsettled, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon along with breezy conditions as we find ourselves pinched between high pressure offshore and low pressure in the Great Lakes area. It remains to be seen if any severe weather might occur, but right now the chances are quite low. Stay tuned.
