Tuesday: Dry front comes through with gusty winds

/ April 14, 2025 at 10:33 PM

Another warm day is on tap for Tuesday ahead of a cold front that’ll push through later in the afternoon. We’ll start the day around 60°, warming to the low to mid-80s in the afternoon despite increasing cloud cover with the frontal passage. A dearth of deep moisture, though, will keep any rain at bay. It’ll be a breezy day ahead of the front, with gusts pushing 30 MPH at times, so you’ll want to keep that in mind as the bridges may be a little trickier than normal as a result. Winds will calm down in the evening once the front is by, though.

Rest of the work week: Cooling off briefly, then back to the 80s

Once the front gets through, temperatures fall back below normal for Wednesday into Thursday morning. We’ll start Wednesday around 10° or so cooler in the wake of the front, with temperatures only warming to the low 70s in the afternoon — about five or so degrees below April 16 normals. Expansive high pressure and dry air will contribute to clear skies throughout the day.

Thursday starts off in the upper 40s once again, but the airmass will modify some throughout the day, and highs will peak right around normal — generally in the mid-to-upper 70s. Clouds should be very scarce once again, and it should be a really, really nice spring day.

Surface high pressure begins to slip offshore Friday as ridging builds in aloft, which will set the stage for a stretch of warmer-than-normal weather that’ll last into early next week at least. Friday starts noticeably warmer, with lows only bottoming out in the mid-to-upper 50s. Temperatures will peak around 80° in the afternoon with just a few clouds from time to time. We’ll increase the cloud cover a tad for Easter weekend, but we’ll still turn even warmer, with highs in the mid-80s expected each day.
