Friday & Memorial Day Weekend: Seasonable temperatures to start, but warming and storming resume Sunday

Generally quiet weather featuring plenty of sunshine and seasonable temperatures will bring us into Memorial Day Weekend as high pressure builds in at the surface for a couple days. Friday will start in the low-to-mid-60s and warm to the mid-80s in the afternoon with low humidity. It’ll still be a bit breezy, but not to the extent as we saw on Thursday.

Saturday looks similar, with lows bottoming out in the low to mid-60s once again and highs peaking generally in the mid-80s again. Humidity will be similar, though we’ll see a bit more seabreeze influence during the second half of the day than we will on Friday.

A warm front will lift across the area Sunday, and this will reintroduce warmer and more humid air to the area. This, in turn, will help drive the development of daytime thunderstorms. There’s not much to organize these storms, so the severe threat is low, but lightning makes every thunderstorm dangerous. Sunday starts out a few degrees warmer, with mid-to-upper 60s expected, while highs top out near 90°. This continues into Memorial Day, with scattered storms once again expected to pop during the day, but particularly in the afternoon. A total washout of your Memorial Day plans is not expected, but it’ll be good to have somewhere inside to go for a little bit, especially if a thunderstorm approaches your location.
