Rest of the work week: Pleasant fall weather continues

/ October 14, 2025 at 9:36 PM

Pleasant weather continues for the rest of the work week as high pressure remains in control. A dry front will move through overnight Wednesday into early Thursday, bringing along a reinforcing shot of cooler and drier air that will make for a crisp start on Friday.

Wednesday will start around 60° in the morning, warming to the mid-to-upper 70s in the afternoon with just a few clouds. There’s a chance that the late afternoon high tide might scrape minor coastal flood thresholds, bringing impacts to the most vulnerable locations in downtown Charleston (Hagood/Fishburne/Lockwood) right around the evening commute, so be aware in case some salt water forces you to reroute.

We’ll feel the aforementioned front Thursday morning, with lows dipping back down in the mid-to-upper 50s (warmest near the coast). Highs Thursday will get to the mid-70s with almost unencumbered sunshine courtesy of deep-layer dry air. Should be a beautiful day, with the only real issue once again being the specter of minor coastal flooding during the evening commute. Friday will get off to a rather chilly start, with lows possibly dipping into the upper 40s inland with lows around 50° in the metro. We’ll warm to just the low 70s in the afternoon, once again with lots and lots of sunshine. (This continues into the weekend, too, with a warming trend into Sunday.)

Tropics: Lorenzo the lone storm, and poses no threat to home

Aside from distant Tropical Storm Lorenzo, which poses no threat to the continental US, the tropics are quiet. Looking at the extended tropical outlook, we might see something try to form in the Caribbean getting into next week, but other than that, things really start to calm down as we head into the end of the month. Hurricane season continues through the end of November, though, so we’ll maintain watch while you enjoy the beautiful fall weather!
