Some winter we’re having this year. For the third time this season and the second time this year, it is conceivable that we’ll top out at 80° tomorrow, which would break the record of 79° set in 1939. (It’s worth noting that the low of 61° is close to the normal high for February 11.)
We’ll start the day with the potential for some patchy fog and may end it with a few showers in the area, but most of us should stay dry as the best ingredients for showers and thunderstorms will stay to our west. The further inland you go, the better your shot at a few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm will be.
An absolutely gorgeous mid-May day is underway in the Lowcountry. We’re starting out in the upper 40s inland to the low 50s at the coast. We’ll warm to the upper 70s this afternoon with low humidity and plenty of sunshine. Relish it, because the warmup begins tomorrow, and by Friday, it’ll feel downright summer-like with a return to heat and humidity.
We’ve got another dry and seasonably warm spring day ahead. Temperatures will top out in the low 80s under partly cloudy skies; onshore flow will aid the seabreeze in punching through the area this afternoon, which will keep temperatures in check. A shower or two can’t be totally ruled out along and ahead of the seabreeze this afternoon, mainly inland from the coast.
Today’s forecast calls for an overall nice, warm mid-April day with temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80 this afternoon away from the locally cooler coastline, which will see highs suppressed into the low-to-mid-70s with a decent seabreeze.
Don’t be surprised if we’re talking about showers later tonight as surface high pressure begins to pull away, allowing a coastal trough to drift ashore. Latest guidance this morning suggests a shower chance as early as 8PM, but it’s looking a little more likely starting around 10-11 PM. Rainfall amounts don’t look particularly heinous, but if you have late night plans, you’ll want to keep rain gear within reach just in case.
High pressure will stay in control of our weather for one more day ahead of an upper disturbance and cold front. Highs will moderate to the mid-70s under southerly flow on the western edge of the high pressure system. Rain chances look to hold off until early Friday morning. Enjoy the day! Look for more details on Bridge Run and Flowertown weekend later today.
Forecast for Thursday, February 7. First 80°+ day of the year!
The warmest day of #FakeSpring is upon us, with highs expected to top out in the low 80s away from the beaches, which will remain much cooler under the influence of water temperatures in the 50s. The NWS forecast high of 81° would be a new record for the date.
Forecast for February 5, 2019 from the National Weather Service.
Our abnormally warm start to February continues today under mostly sunny skies. We reached 73° at the airport yesterday and look to top that today, with a high of 75° in the afternoon. It gets even warmer from here, too.
Forecast for Thursday, January 31, 2019 from the National Weather Service.
Hang in there, everyone — we have one more day of chilly, POLAR VORTEX-adjacent cold before we get into a rather nice warming trend to kick off February.
National Weather Service forecast for January 30, 2019. Cold!
We are getting off to a rather chilly start this morning on the southern periphery of a significant Arctic blast of cold air. While we may be starting in the upper 20s, at least we are in the upper 20s above zero — can’t say the same for our friends in the Upper Midwest.
