Thursday: A rather pleasant weather day

/ September 14, 2022 at 7:55 PM

We’ve got a really nice weather day coming up for Thursday. We’ll start the day in the mid-60s away from the coast (where the warmer water temperatures will keep lows above 70°). Temperatures will head into the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies with a northeasterly breeze keeping things feeling seasonable. Meanwhile, dewpoints will mix out to around 60°, making for a very comfortable afternoon. All in all, it should be a really nice day to get out and about a bit as you can — I’d certainly recommend it.

Pleasant weather will continue for Friday into the weekend, too. A coastal trough could help get a shower or two toward the area on Saturday and Sunday, but otherwise, expect rain-free conditions and seasonable temperatures.

Tropical update: TD Seven has formed

Tropical Depression Seven has formed west of the Lesser Antilles. At 5PM, it was located 745 miles east of the Leeward Islands, moving west at 13 MPH. It is forecast to become Tropical Storm Fiona possibly as soon as tonight. It has a hostile road ahead, with wind shear and likely quite a bit of land interaction to keep it relatively tame, at least through the next five days. The preponderance of the guidance has it recurving away from the US this time next week, but there’s a not-insignificant number of guidance members that keep it moving westward, closer to Cuba. This scenario is certainly in the cards if the storm is weaker and thus feels less influence from upper troughs to pull it away. For now, though, the NHC forecast at five days has the storm starting a more west-northwesterly track. Stay tuned to this one given its latitude, though there’s no imminent threat to our neck of the woods at this point.
