Tuesday: Temperatures near normal, stray PM thunderstorm possible

/ May 29, 2023 at 7:58 PM

After what’s turned out to be a really beautiful Memorial Day, we head back to work and school on Tuesday with similar, if not slightly warmer, weather expected. We’ll start the day a few degrees warmer — generally around the mid-60s — and highs should warm to the mid-80s in the afternoon. There’s a risk for a stray shower or thunderstorm in the later afternoon and early evening hours as the seabreeze gets rolling, but otherwise, the vast majority of us get Tuesday in rain-free as well.

Rest of the work week: Status quo

We will close out May and enter June with pretty much the status quo, weather-wise. Expect lows in the mid-60s and highs in the low to mid-80s each afternoon — a few clicks below normal for this point in the year — each afternoon with ample sunshine. A stray storm or two will again be possible Wednesday afternoon, with slightly lower rain chances for Thursday under a mix of sun and clouds. Partly cloudy skies dominate Friday, with a slightly better chance for evening thunderstorms as a front starts to sink southward toward the area and mid-level heights drop a bit. All in all, though, not a bad way to start June all things considered.

Introducing Charleston Weather Daily, a companion podcast

Over the last month I have been experimenting with and have soft-launched a companion podcast to @chswx called Charleston Weather Daily. As you may surmise from the title, it’s a daily 1-3 minute podcast with what you need to know about the weather before you get into the day. I record it every night so it is ready to go in your podcast feeds in the morning.

You can listen wherever you get podcasts — just search Charleston Weather Daily. It’s listed in Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Amazon Podcasts (yes, you can get this on Alexa!), Stitcher, Pandora, and Spotify. It’s also available in the new Jam app, which is designed specifically for micro-podcasts like this. However you listen, I hope you enjoy and am looking forward to hearing what you think!
