Thanksgiving Day: Seasonably cool with sunshine
After some much-needed rain Tuesday and Wednesday, we get a day to dry out on Thanksgiving. Expect plenty of sunshine for much of the day (albeit with clouds increasing late) and some cooler and drier air as well — we’ll wake up to lows in the mid-40s that will yield to highs in the low 60s as generally light north winds blow in. Overall, it looks like a great day to get together with family for food and football, amongst other things.
Black Friday & the weekend: A few more showers Friday morning, but overall fairly quiet
Another disturbance will roll through on Friday, generating an uptick in cloud cover and some light shower activity primarily during the morning, with mostly cloudy skies thereafter (though a few breaks in the clouds are possible in the evening). Be alert to slick roads if you’re going to do some in-person Black Friday shopping. Temperatures will run close to what we saw on Thursday, with lows in the mid-to-upper 40s and highs in the mid-60s in the afternoon.
Cloud cover will hang around for the weekend, though there will be breaks as well to let some sun in. Temperatures will remain on the cool side of normal in the afternoons, generally running in the low to mid-60s after starting each day in the low-to-mid-40s.
We’ll need to keep an eye on morning high tides over the weekend for the potential for some minor coastal flooding as winds go back around to the northeast and we approach Monday’s full moon. High tide around 6am Saturday could peak between 7.1-7.3′, producing some minor flooding. If you have travel around the usual tidal trouble spots downtown early Saturday, keep this in mind as you think about your route. High tide around 6:46am Sunday should produce similar results as well, though winds may be a little less favorable. Keep an ear out for possible Coastal Flood Advisories.
