Thursday: Mostly sunny skies continue; turning more unsettled around Labor Day
Our stretch of high-pressure-dominated weather continues on Thursday as warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies continue. We start the day in the mid-70s, warming to the mid-90s in the afternoon. Dewpoints in the low 70s will ultimately yield heat indices around 100-101°. A few patches of fog will be possible in the morning, but otherwise, another generally quiet weather day is expected.
Friday & Labor Day Weekend: Quiet weather for a few more days, then turning more unsettled
High pressure remains in control through Saturday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 90s expected each afternoon, giving us a nice and quiet kickoff to Labor Day Weekend. We’ll start to see a pattern change beginning Sunday, though, as a trough digs in a bit more, breaking down the deep-layer ridging that’s characterized the past few days. This will allow for a slightly higher chance for an afternoon shower or storm on Sunday, but most of us get the day in rain-free. Greater rain coverage appears possible on Monday as a front approaches the area. This front will get through and stall out nearby on Tuesday, keeping the weather generally unsettled but also a bit cooler as we get into the middle of next week as winds shift back around out of the northeast.
