Thursday: Much cooler, but more sunshine
A cold front passed through earlier Wednesday will make Thursday a much cooler day despite plenty of sunshine. We’ll start the day in the mid-30s — with temperatures possibly dipping toward freezing in more rural areas — and warm to just the mid-50s in the afternoon despite all the sunshine. The wind won’t be whipping as much Thursday, with speeds generally around 5 MPH expected out of the north and northwest. Overall, it’ll be a seasonably cool day, with temperatures running several degrees below normal.
Friday & the weekend: Another chilly day Friday, but a warmup ensues
Friday will get started near freezing, but a warming trend will begin to commence as winds turn a little more onshore. Expect highs to top out in the upper 50s to around 60° despite more in the way of cloud cover. Some of that cloud cover thins out for Saturday, and temperatures continue to moderate, with lows around 40° and highs in the mid-60s, within spitting distance of normal for mid-December. A few showers are possible Sunday as some upper-level energy rides atop the wedge of high pressure at the surface, but otherwise we can expect partly to mostly cloudy skies and seasonably mild temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s.
