Thursday: Clouds stick around, a little cooler
A front will pass through overnight Wednesday into Thursday, but we’ll keep cloud cover around and maybe even a shower or two as a trough of low pressure hangs around for one more day. Temperatures will start in the mid-to-upper 50s once again, but we’ll warm to just the mid-60s with the cloud cover and a somewhat cooler and drier airmass working its way in.
Friday & the weekend: Turning much cooler
Temperatures take a turn for the cooler starting Friday as another front moves through. This’ll kick the clouds out as drier air pushes into the area throughout the day, leaving us with clear skies by the evening. We start the day around 50°, warming to the mid-60s in the afternoon — right in the ballpark for normal for this point in the year.
The cooler and drier airmass really makes its presence felt on Saturday, though, as lows in the mid-to-upper 30s warm to just the low 50s despite full sunshine. Sunday will be the coldest day of the set, with lows in the upper 20s warming to just the upper 40s in the afternoon as cold high pressure really settles in. Expect a near-repeat performance on Monday, too.
Christmas forecast: Gradually warming, maybe a shower on Christmas Day
As we head into the Christmas holiday, expect temperatures to be on the upswing. Tuesday will get off to another chilly start in the mid-30s, with a few spots at freezing possible, but we’ll warm to the upper 50s — several degrees warmer than thermometers will read on Monday. Expect generally partly cloudy skies for any last-minute Christmas shopping you may have.
Christmas Day will run even a little more milder as high pressure retreats northward and a coastal front moves ashore. Expect lows around 40° to warm to the mid-60s in the afternoon. As we get into the evening, there’s a chance of a few showers developing from southwest to northeast. We’ll see how this pans out, but at least the rain should stay away from any sleigh aviation interests Tuesday night!
