Tuesday: Overcast and a few showers persist

/ October 27, 2025 at 11:16 PM

More overcast is in store for Tuesday despite low pressure departing the area. The overcast combined with gusty northerly winds and a few lingering showers will keep us on the cool side in the afternoon, with highs only peaking in the low 60s after a start to the day in the mid-50s. Showers should taper off by evening, with a rain-free period expected until Wednesday afternoon.

Rest of the work week: Improving conditions, staying cool

Another front will approach the area on Wednesday. That will drive temperatures back to the upper 60s — the warmest this week — with a few showers generally starting in the afternoon through the overnight. The front gets through Thursday morning, and the influx of cooler and drier air will help the cloud cover relent. Highs Thursday peak in the mid-60s after a start around 50°, while good and seasonable weather awaits for Halloween with lows in the mid-40s warming to the mid-60s in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. We’ll keep that vibe going into the weekend, too, as we flip the calendar to November.

Tropics: Melissa bears down on Jamaica

Hurricane Melissa, a meteorologically-impressive Category 5 hurricane, is bearing down on Jamaica tonight. As of the 11 PM advisory, it is packing maximum sustained winds of 175 MPH with a minimum central pressure of 903mb, five millibars lower than the 8 PM intermediate advisory and a surefire indicator that Melissa continues to strengthen. Between the extreme winds, very heavy rain, and surge, Melissa is emerging as a generational storm for Jamaica. Jamaicans are no stranger to hurricanes, and are well-prepared, but this will still be a hard hit. Keep them in your thoughts.
