Friday & the weekend: 90s return

/ June 4, 2026 at 10:38 PM

High pressure at the surface and aloft will remain the primary weather driver for Friday and the weekend, with a bit more in the way of heat returning to the area starting Friday. Temperatures Friday start around 60°, warming to around 90° in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Dewpoints will remain generally in the 50s before the seabreeze pushes in a little more humid air from the Atlantic later in the day, but even then, they’ll only run in the low 60s with cooling temperatures behind them. It will be one of those rare days where the heat index may actually run slightly cooler than the actual air temperature, in fact, as the relatively dry air will allow sweat to do its thing.

Unfortunately, we will start to see dewpoints begin to rise back to the mid-60s on Saturday as winds go more southerly with high pressure heading back into the Atlantic. Temperatures should once again top out in the low 90s away from the cooler coastline, but this time heat indices will run a click or two above the air temperature with a bit more moisture in the air. We should see an uptick in cloud cover, too, but rain is not expected.

Dewpoints climb even higher on Sunday, and should scrape 70° along and east of 17-A. Warmth will peak Sunday, with lows in the upper 60s to near 70° warming to the low-to-mid-90s in the afternoon. Heat indices will run generally in the mid-90s, with some upper 90s possible in the immediate wake of the seabreeze. A couple models bring some vorticity energy through the area that kicks up a shower or two, but the recent model consensus is that we stay rain-free once again Sunday. Will watch it, though — sometimes days like Sunday can yield a few popup showers in the afternoon regardless.
